After the extraordinary response to Movimento Strings we are excited to reveal the next chapter in the series - Movimento Strings Inflections!
Featuring authentic orchestral string recordings, Inflections stays true to the core focus of Movimento Strings – movement, life and evolving tonal core within sustained notes – but goes further by introducing a suite of four extended techniques that bring new textures and fresh colours to your Soundbox cinematic strings palette.
Discover 'Flickering' – a technique of our own invention which consists of long sustained notes where each musician randomly plays a quarter tone acciaccatura (ie a grace note performed as quickly as possible before an essential note of a melody). The result is an unsettled, shimmering texture – great for creating tension or haunting otherworldly beauty.
And then there's Ricochet Gestures - long, non-looping articulations in which each player independently introduces a ricochet texture: beginning slowly, evolving into a scratchy, rhythmic flutter, and eventually fading away. The overall effect is organic and unpredictable.
